Rail transport - Leading in the transport system of Russia. Russian Railways, playing an important role in ensuring the transport and tariff incentives for economic growth in the country, at the same time make a significant contribution to the formation of the federal and regional budgets. The main task of Russian Railways - to provide reliable transport communication of the European part of the country with its eastern regions. Without the railways it is now impossible to mass movement of cargo and passengers over long distances, because it does not exist everywhere, or poorly developed communication other modes of transport.

The main line of production and economic unit of the railway transport is the train station, which plays an important role in the transportation process. Industrial and economic activity stations should ensure unhindered performance of a given amount of work for the transit and processing of trains and cars, loading and unloading when the least delay of rolling stock under the technical and cargo operations, trouble-free reception and departure of trains, as well as performing shunting operations and compliance with the rules the personal safety of plant workers.

A special role in the transportation process belongs to the district stations on the railways. They Focusing the bulk of the technical work with freight trains as well as freight work performed.
