Matveeva (Russia)International cooperation of low-cost airlines on the global passenger air transportation marketThe study reveals the features of world passenger air transportation market functioning, takinginto account the growth of airline consolidation processes as well as the appliance of the flexible low-costcarrier business models. The author has developed the methodology for assessing the level of airlinescooperation and interdependence within the framework of various marketing and strategic forms ofinteraction. The highest level of air carriers’ cooperation is typical for transnational airline holdingcompanies and global airline alliances.
Despite the growing popularity of the liberal passenger airtransportation market model, the paternalistic one can also be effective with the support of consistent statepolicy and large-scale investments and can ensure the development of low-cost airlines. The authorevaluates the competitive positions of various forms of low-cost airlines cooperation. The proposedstrategic guidance to increase their competitiveness includes integration within international low-costairline alliances, implementation of cooperation with traditional air carriers and diversification of theroute network with long-haul flights.26.
