The study attempts to examine the type of hero theplayer and identify the typological features of the artistic structure of the playing fieldof postmodern works: "The Magus" by John Fowles (1977) in English literature and"Rare earthes" by Vasily Aksenov (2007) in Russian. Despite the chronological gapbetween the two novels have much in common. The idea of literature as a gamedefines the basic artistic method of John Fowles and Vasily Aksenov. For the authorswhat matters is only the game that involved the main character in search of their ownidentity. With the help of staging the main characters get rid of other people's masks,refuse other people's roles in animation which I own dissipated. Thus, in the presentwork convincingly argues that the idea of theatricality in the literature – is aneffective way to study the complexity of the human personality.22.
