He behaved badly.□Did you sleep well?□He came very quickly.The adverbs loud(ly), cheap(ly), quick(ly) and slow(ly)are often used without -ly in everyday English:□Don’t speak so loud(ly).267THEADVERBThe adverb pretty can mean “very, quite”.
It is usedbefore an adjective or an adverb:□ pretty expensive/muchSome adjectives end in -ly. If we want to use thesewords as adverbs, we say: “in a ... m anner/w ay/fashion”:□Meg is a friendly girl. She always greetsme in a friendly way.□ That was a cowardly thing to do. You actedin a cowardly way.We do not use adverbs after link verbs such as to be,become, feel, get, look and seem.
