The headline of the article I have read is “Animal, digital, alive?”. It is a scientific article written by Catherine Brahic and published on 29 November 2014.

The main idea of the article is about the ethical problem of treating the electronic creatures based on the neural network as alive.

The author starts by telling that people have created and successfully tested the model of the worm, called WormBot. The WormBot behaved itself just like the real one, because the model has copied all neurons and synapses of the real one. They still did not enable it to sniff and taste, but it can feel obstacles, and just like the real worm, stop to push them. After it author explains, that if the WormBot is the computer copy of the real one, it means that it can suffer the same way. And it is very big ethical problem. Should we take care the computer model?

In my opinion this is very important to understand another question: What means the word “dislike”? Because for the animals pain is the survival method. And animals dislike it, because it must force them to act.

Anyway? I think that this is one of the questions, which must not be asked until humans will mature and become ready to answer.
