• The collective right to peace and security or “the right to life in peace” is declared as a right of “every nation and every human being” in the Declaration on the Preparation of Societies for Life in Peace, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 197839. The Declaration on the Right of Peoples to Peace, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 198440 (§ 1) “solemnly proclaims that the peoples of our planet have a sacred right to peace.”
